Board News:

The past two Monday nights the school board has sponsored listening sessions.  These meetings were intended to seek guidance from the school population on the direction RCA will go in the future.  As you are aware, last year we had a company do a feasibility study that determined we were ready to proceed with an expansion project.  Bill McGee, a consultant for Paideia Inc. has been hired to assist us as we look to the future of RCA.  From these meetings we had some great thoughts and ideas come forth.  We are very appreciative of all suggestions and comments that we received.  After you read the list below feel free to continue your input by emailing mcoggins@rossvillechristian.com Continue to keep our school and its leadership in your prayers during this exciting time in our history.

Dear Rossville Patrons,

The mascot committee has been given the task of setting the rules and making a recommendation for choosing our new mascot.  Many of you have already discussed among yourselves possible choices for the new mascot.  Our committee has met and has prayerfully chosen the following rules and guidelines for the selection of our next mascot:

We will have a contest involving individual students grades pre-K through 11th grade.  We're restricting the contest to students.  We will be granting prizes and we did not feel it would be appropriate to have children competing with adults.  Each student from these grades should enter his/her idea for the mascot on the form accompanying this letter.  It should be sealed and turned in to either the elementary office or the high school office.  When the sealed entry is turned in it should have the time and date stamped by one of our office personnel.  This is important because there may be more than one person recommending the same mascot.  In case of a tie, credit for the contest will be given to the earliest submission.  For example, if three students say we should be the "Bears", then the one who has the earliest submission would get credit.

Deadline for submitting their entry form will be November 16 by noon.  All entries will be collected in the sealed envelopes and not opened until after the deadline.  The committee will select three finalists from the submissions given.  Each of these individuals will receive a gift package.  This committee will display the three finalists' entries to the whole school so that the student body will have a right to vote on their selection in January.  Whoever receives the most votes will be the overall winner.  The prize for winning is a Rossville jacket with the new logo.  The winner will also be able to have a pizza party with his or her grade.  The winning student's class will also not have to be in uniform on the day of the pizza party(Dress code still applies).

While not required, it is suggested that a mascot be recommended reflecting a biblical context.  We also suggest that each entry be easily marketable promoting a positive image.

 Thank you for your participation,

 RCA Mascot Committee
