7th grade English – Our students will study the spoken and written language. This includes, but is not limited to, knowledge of spelling, punctuation, sentence and paragraph structure, parts of speech and increasing vocabulary.  Students will be required to write a term paper.

 
8th grade English – Our students will study the spoken and written language.  This includes, but is not limited to, knowledge of spelling, punctuation, sentence and paragraph structure, parts of speech and increasing vocabulary.  Students will be required to write a term paper.

 
7th Literature – Emphasis will be place on reading and comprehension.  Students will be asked to do book evaluations, oral book reports, comparisons of books, as well as keep a journal.  Types of literature will include short stories, poems, drama and fables.

 
8th Literature – Emphasis will be placed on reading and comprehension. Students will be expected to keep a daily journal.  Students will complete book evaluations as well as spend time reading poetry, Bible passages and short stories.

 
9-12 English – The curriculum is designed to prepare students to read with comprehension, think critically, and communicate and write effectively.  A variety of topics will be covered, including research papers, short stories, poetry, oral language, essays, novels, and classical literary works.  Assignments will focus on developing and enhancing the students’ ability to analyze both the spoken and written language.

 
Drama – The curriculum is designed to assist students in the aspects of drama/acting.  Students will learn to appreciate the art of acting and will use for a text “The Stage and the School.”


Speech – The curriculum is designed to instruct students on the importance of communication.  Students will give speeches and learn about the key elements of communication and its various forms.  Students will learn how to conduct job interviews, college interviews, group communication, dramatic presentations and debating skills.


Journalism – The course is designed to provide students with an understanding of the steps for creating and publishing a school yearbook.  Photography, fundraising, and computer layout designs will be covered.
