8th Math – The curriculum is designed to first review basic arithmetic operations. The study of fractions will follow, and there will also be the beginning of study on geometric operations. Students will study mixed numbers, decimals, perimeter, area and volume. Students will recognize concepts and will be introduced to trichotomy axiom and symbols of negation.
Pre-Algebra - This course is a bridge from the junior high math program to the high school programs of algebra and geometry. Areas of study will be integers, solving equations and inequalities, fractions, rational numbers, graphing, ratio, proportion, and percent. Other areas covered will be statistics, probability, geometry, area/volume, and polynomials.
Algebra I – This course will serve as the foundation for Algebra II, Geometry and Trigonometry. Emphasis will be on exponents, inverse operations, formulas and algebraic expressions. Included in the course content will be graphing, the quadratic formula and factoring trinomials.
Algebra II – In addition to reviewing concepts learned in Algebra I students
will be taught how to solve absolute value equations, inequalities, and system
of equations. The curriculum will include graphing linear equations,
inequalities, and conic sections, as well as introduce matrices and logarithms.
Geometry – The curriculum is designed to master the use of formulas to
determine area, volume, and surface area. Skills learned in Algebra will
be used to evaluate and understand mathematical theorems and postulates.
Students will learn to construct geometrical objects and analyze how geometry
shapes our world. There will also be an introduction to trigonometry.
Pre – Calculus - The curriculum is designed to focus on relations,
functions and graphs. This includes polynomial and rational functions.
There is also a study of trigonometry as it relates to graphing, identities,
equations, vectors and parametric equations. The curriculum will also
work with advanced functions and graphing including exponential and logarithmic
functions.
Calculus - This course requires the completion of Algebra II, Geometry, and Pre-Calculus/Trigonometry. The study includes functions, graphs, limits, and the two major branches of calculus: finding a derivative and integration. This includes real-world applications. The student will then take the AP Calculus Exam at the end of the school year for college credit.
Senior Math - is a culminating high school mathematics course divided in to two parts. First semester provides a comprehensive review of basic skills in Algebra, geometry, trig, and word problems necessary for success on standardized tests, as well as future college level mathematics classes. Second semester focuses on statistics.
Accounting - The students will learn the principles of accounting. Students will know how to classify accounts, prepare reports, and journalize transactions. The students will learn the procedures for reporting accounting information for proprietorships, partnerships, and corporations. This class will focus on assets, liabilities, owner's equity, ownership, payroll, and income tax. The information delivered in this class is geared toward equipping the student with the beginning resources for a job in a bookkeeping/accounting environment. This course provides a beneficial working knowledge of accounting practices useful in all fields of study or future careers.
