Absences
Students absent over twenty days for a
two semester course, and ten days for a one semester course, may be denied
credit.
Students are expected to be
in class unless he/she has proper authorization to be excused. Following an absence, the parent should send
a note or call the office to inform the school of the absence.
If a student is not in class
and has not been given proper permission he/she will be subject to disciplinary
action.
If a student leaves campus
without following proper procedures he/she will be subject to disciplinary
action which may include suspension. If
a student leaves campus without permission of parent and office personnel (the
parents nor the school is aware of the absence) the student will be
suspended. A partial day’s absence will
result in a one day suspension, and each full day of skipping school will
result in a two day suspension.
Students may leave campus
following his/her last class of the day with a parental note on file in the
office stating this request.
Early check out should be
accompanied by a note from the parent turned in prior to 8:00 a.m. The student or parent must sign the check out
list when the student leaves campus.
Students may be checked out with a call from the parent to office
personnel.
Make-Up Work
It is the responsibility of
the student to contact the teacher to make-up missed work or tests. All work
should be made up in a timely manner. A normal time frame would be one day for
each day missed. Partial credit may be given for late work. A teacher may
impose deadlines at his/her discretion.
A student who has a planned
absence should get his/her work before he/she leaves and turn it in upon the
day he/she returns unless it is an extended absence, in which case due days
will be set by the teacher.
Tardiness
Tardiness is an unacceptable
behavior. We will teach our students the
respect of being punctual and need the support of parents in getting the child
to school in a timely manner. A student
is considered tardy, if he/she is not in class when the second bell rings. A
student who is late to the first class of the day must sign in at the front
office before going to class.
Students will face
disciplinary actions if tardiness becomes a problem.
A student will face
disciplinary action if tardiness becomes a problem. Staying after school, Saturday work days and
suspension in extreme cases will be used.
Two tardies in a class will constitute one absence. This is important due to the fact that over
twenty absences in a class, ten absences in a one semester class, may deny a
student from getting credit in a class (exception would be an extended hospital
stay, illness, etc.)
