RCA DRESS CODE

 

The school uniform must be worn.  A violation of the uniform policy will result in students being held out of class. All time out of class will be unexcused. To attend classes at RCA students will honor this and other policies.  Any violations in the uniform policy such as shirt tail being out, etc. will result in disciplinary action, including but not limited to, detention, Saturday work day, and if the student shows disrespect by continuing to ignore regulations, suspension.  Blatant disregard of rules will not be tolerated.

 

School Uniform Policy

Shirts:

  • Polo-style collared shirts, long or short sleeved

  • Solid colors: red, white, or true navy

  • No brand logos, unless the logo is the same color as the shirt

  • No tight, form-fitting, or stretch shirts allowed

  • One white polo-type shirt with the RCA logo will be required for field trips, chapel, or other school functions
  • Light blue oxford dress shirts are permitted for boys and girls

  • Shirts must be tucked in (all students)

Pants:

  • Solid colors: true navy or regular khaki only

  • One pair of navy pants will be required (girls may choose a navy skirt instead)

  • May be pleated front or plain front

  • No cargo pants or cargo pockets

  • Capri pants are acceptable

  • Girls may wear pleated or plain front banded skirts or skorts, but must not be shorter than 3 inches above the back of the knee

  • No tight, form-fitting, or stretch pants allowed

  • No low-riders (Pants may not be lower than one inch below the natural waistline)

  • Shorts are acceptable, pleated or plain front, no cargo packets, and may not shorter than 3 inches above the back of the knee

  • Pants must be appropriate length.  Excessive length results in frayed and tattered hemlines

  • Belt must be worn if pants have belt loops (Exception K-4 through 1st grade)

  • Any plaid shorts, skirts, jumpers, etc. must be purchased from Larose (901)386-4231

Options:

The board requests that all students have at least one white polo-type shirt embroidered with the school logo, and at least one pair of navy pants or skirt for special school functions.  Students will wear white shirt and navy pants/skirts for field trips and other designated days.  This is in place of a dress uniform common in other private schools.  Check in the office for details on how to order the white embroidered shirts.

Shoes:

  • No flip-flops of any style may be worn

Physical Appearance:

  • No visible tattoos or temporary tattoos.

  • No visible body piercing (except ears for girls).

  • Nontraditional hair colors or extreme hairstyles are not allowed.

  • Boys hair must be cut above the collar and above the eyebrows when pulled straight down.

  • Boys are to be clean-shaven. No facial hair is allowed except sideburns, which may not extend past the bottom of the earlobe and cannot be more than one inch wide. Sideburns must not be bushy.


Students taking P.E. in grades 7-12
 

Students must wear acceptable clothing for p.e. and must change before going back to class. Acceptable clothing for p.e. will consist of:

  • Gym shorts which are no more than six inches above the back of the knee

  • A t-shirt with sleeves, covering mid-riff

  • Tennis shoes or other sports shoes with white socks

 

Extra-Curricular Activities Dress Code

  • For ball games, we strongly request that you observe the dress code.

  • Students should not wear jeans or shorts to school functions such as graduation, sports banquet, etc.

  • Special dress codes will be made available for those participating in the RCA Beauty Review, Homecoming, etc.


NOTE: the administration reserves the right to rule on types of apparel not addressed in the handbook.
