A New Head of School: Search Update

Dear Rossville Christian Academy Community,

At RCA, we have a long tradition of academic excellence in collaboration with a Christ-centered community of students, parents, teachers, colleagues, alumni, and friends who value learning. As we begin the search for our next Head of School, we look to you, families and friends of RCA, to help guide our search committee on what our school’s priorities are and the type of person we are looking for in our next Head of School.

To help ensure that we conduct a high-level search and attract the best candidates, RCA has
partnered with Carney, Sandoe & Associates (CS&A) to lead our efforts. A leader in recruitment and strategic consulting services for educational institutions, the CS&A team will be led by senior search consultants Barbara Daush, who recently retired from her position as President of St. Agnes Academy and St. Dominic School in Memphis, TN, and Bob Windham, former Head of School at Saint Mary’s Hall in San Antonio, TX, and Associate Superintendent for Arlington Independent School District in Arlington, TX. They both are excited about working with us and look forward to meeting members of our community. For more information on CS&A, click here

A Search Committee comprised of teachers, board members, alumni, parents, and administrators has been created. Thank you to those who have agreed to serve in this important role:

Rex Leath, RCA Graduate 1987, Chair of Search Committee, RCA Board Member and Parent
Craig Hammond, RCA Board Member and Parent
Rachael Burnett, RCA Director of Education
Teran Conley, RCA Dean of Students and Head Football Coach
Sara Russell, RCA First Grade Teacher and Parent
Keith Hayworth, RCA History and Bible Teacher
Sarah Schwalb, RCA English Teacher and Parent
Holley Muraco, RCA Parent
Leslie Nelms, RCA Parent
Everette West, RCA Parent

We are grateful for the generosity and counsel of these members of our RCA community. The search process we are planning is protocol-driven and built on extensive prayer, research, and engagement with the RCA family. Bob and Barbara visited RCA November 15th and 16th and held meetings with various members of the RCA community, including parents, teachers, and the Search Committee. This visit served to deepen Carney Sandoe’s understanding of our school and to assist the Search Committee in identifying the elements of leadership our new Head of School must have.

For the next step in this process, we want to hear from you. CS&A, with input from the committee, has created a quick survey; the results of which will assist in the creation of our school profile and also help to locate candidates with the characteristics important to our community.

This survey is simple to complete, but a very important element of the search process. In addition to seeking your thoughts on a variety of key issues affecting our school, you will be asked to share your thoughts regarding what you value most about RCA and the leadership qualities and qualifications you seek in our next Head of School.

The survey will close on Friday, December 7. So please make sure to submit your response by then. As part of this survey, you will be asked if you would like to nominate or suggest individuals whom you believe may be helpful in our networking efforts. Once created, we encourage you to share the position description with your personal and business network. Although you may not know the “perfect candidate,” someone in your network may possess the skills and traits we are seeking. Thank you in advance for contributing to this important process.

On behalf of the Search Committee, we thank you for your support. This is an exciting opportunity, and we look forward to your assistance throughout the search process and beyond.

Sincerely,
Rex Leath
Chair, RCA Head of School Search Committee
